Pom-poms
ArtiZen pom-poms usually have a single trunk with a number of ball-shaped pads at the end of selected branches. The overall impression is that of ping-pong balls on sticks or a bunch of balloons that are not quite touching each other.
This style looks great planted in rows on the boundaries of gardens, acting as screening while allowing some light to come through. As no two plants shaped in this style are ever identical, you finish up with an infinite number of variations. Pom-poms also make great feature plants in large pots or as a focal point on their own.
Our pom-poms usually come in 60 liter pots and range from 1.5m to 2.2m in height.

Also known as Japanese Box. Best grown in evenly moist, well drained loam in full sun or partial shade. It has glossy, rounded leaves that are bright green when young and mature to a dark green. Greater cold tolerance and resistance to Buxus blight than Buxus sempervirens.

Juniperus chin. ‘Kaizuka’
Commonly called the Chinese Juniper or Hollywood Juniper, these hardy evergreen plants love the long summers of the North Island and will also thrive in the colder extremes of Central Otago and Southland. They like a full sun position and need extremely good drainage. The younger foliage of J.C.’Kaizuka’ is warm green in colour with older leaves turning to a darker green.

A tough evergreen Conifer that will thrive in just about any sunny position with well-drained soil. The foliage is dark green and needle-like, arranged in a spiral pattern on the branches. Can tolerate drought conditions once established.

Juniperus squamata ‘Meyeri’
Evergreen conifer with attractive steel-blue foliage. It prefers dryish, well-drained soil and a sunny position. This particular Juniper benefits from grooming about once a year to remove dead needles and to allow young growth from the base of the pad to flourish.

Podocarpus Totara Aurea
Beautiful gold to lime green foliaged native plant with a dense, bushy habit. It is hardy for both coastal and inland areas and likes full sun or partly shaded positions. Golden Totara is very tough and tolerates dry and windy conditions.

This cultivar of the native Totara is characterized by its blue-grey foliage. It is slow growing, trims well and, like all Totara, grows in coastal or inland sites and windy or dry positions.

This Totara has mid-green tones and trims well. It is very hardy and can be grown in sunny or part-shade positions. It can tolerate high-wind areas and copes with salt spray as well as higher altitudes.
